Pneumatic tools are generally considered cumbersome by many in the steel strapping industry. Most consider them heavy and difficult to carry around. But for heavy duty strapping, many industries continue to rely on pneumatic tools. The Fromm A452 is a pneumatic tensioner, but it is not as heavy as some of the others. 
There are different kinds of tensioners such as the feedwheel tensioners, windlass tensioners and pusher style tensioners. The A452 is the pusher type tensioner which is the best for strapping large and compressible packages easily. This type of tensioner is also fast but since it requires push seals, the preparation time tends to be a little more when compared to other tools.

The A452 is strong, fast and lightweight and is very effective for both mobile and stationery applications. It has a very high strap tensioning force of 1910 lbs (8,500N). Since it is only a tensioner a separate sealer has to be used and Fromm’s A461 fits the bill the perfectly. Strap qualities are 75”-1.25” wide x .025” to.044” thick steel strapping. However, for smaller or light duty applications, the sealer is not required and a manual sealer is enough. The manual sealer is also available with Fromm and has the same strapping qualities.
The A452 has an angled duck bill nose and only push or closed seals can be used with it. The seals can be threaded onto the strap and the tool pushes the seal along the straps applying the tension forcefully. This is possible due to the air qualities of the tool. However, some industry experts feel that the two air lines constantly dragging around the work place is bothersome to the workers. But Fromm has a solution for that too. Their Grip Pack tensioner and sealer are battery operated and thereby eliminate the air lines and also provide the same seal and is efficient.
