Need a battery powered Signode WP2? There is a company out there making just that! Finally you don’t have to have pneumatic lines while you are hanging from the side of a rail car! The WP2 steel strapping tensioner pulled serious tension, this new battery tool is expected to pull 3600-3800 pounds of tension too!
The WP2 weight is 24 pounds, the new battery tool is expected to weigh just 15 pounds. Many of the rail road union rules are now limiting tool weight at 22 pounds, meaning the Signode monster is just too heavy!
The new battery tool has a brushless motor, and runs on lithium ion batteries that you can buy from Home Depot or Lowes. The new strapping tool is expected to be released in January 2013 in the US market, and for export markets later that year.
